FASTBOOT(8) FASTBOOT(8) NAME fastboot, fasthalt - reboot/halt the system without checking the disks SYNOPSIS /etc/fastboot [ _b_o_o_t_-_o_p_t_i_o_n_s ] /etc/fasthalt [ _h_a_l_t_-_o_p_t_i_o_n_s ] DESCRIPTION _F_a_s_t_b_o_o_t and _f_a_s_t_h_a_l_t are shell scripts which reboot and halt the sys‐ tem without checking the file systems. This is done by creating a file _/_f_a_s_t_b_o_o_t, then invoking the _r_e_b_o_o_t program. The system startup script, _/_e_t_c_/_r_c, looks for this file and, if present, skips the normal invocation of _f_s_c_k(8).
